Resume Tips

Make your resume easy for both recruiters and applicant tracking systems to read.

Structure it for skimming

Recruiters often spend under a minute on a first pass. Use clear section headings, consistent formatting, and put your most relevant and recent experience near the top.

Lead with outcomes, not duties

  • Instead of "Responsible for managing social media accounts", try "Grew social engagement by 40% over 6 months across 3 channels"
  • Quantify wherever you honestly can — numbers are easier to scan and compare than adjectives
  • Keep bullet points to one or two lines each

Match the language of the role

Mirror the terminology used in the job description where it's an honest match for your experience — both applicant tracking systems and human reviewers are looking for that overlap.

Keep it clean

  • One to two pages for most roles
  • A simple, single-column layout parses more reliably through resume-screening software
  • Save and share as PDF unless a Word document is explicitly requested
